1. How would you rate your agency's staff in terms of their understanding of ASFA requirements? We are particularly interested in the level of understanding of managers, supervisors and workers. Please rate their understanding on a scale from 1 to 5 with 1 being 'poor' and 5 being 'comprehensive'.

Comments: The CFSR results showed that staff need more education on ASFA topics. The knowledge in the field is not good.

Communication has increased because of training of staff on IV-E. Supervisors in protection and safety and income maintenance were trained.

There has been no agency wide effort. However, since data is increasingly available, more appraisal work is being done. It is easier to determine what workers are doing. Can check on things like case plans, visitation. Worker specific data is available and is used in supervisor meetings.

Have been looking at cases to determine the role of the court, how timelines are meet. A private contractor has been hired to carry out reviews that are not connected with the CFSR. These reviews are not necessarily specific only to ASFA requirements.

The tribal workers were invited to agency trainings and new worker trainings. Tribes have also arranged for training on 4-E and ASFA given by NICWA.

Skills not specifically identified yet, but could use training on use of data, management skills, how to work with community, collaboration/coordination skills.

Need training on how to get treatment for kids

ASFA is the foundation for the work we do. It's not the language we are after, it's the outcomes we want to use in a productive way.
